SYNOPSIS & FORMAT
The handlers of a “bad boy” entrepreneur go to extremes to give him one last big bash before his past catches up to him. An open world immersive theatre experience a la Sleep No More, guests travel from room to room throughout our space and follow stories of revenge and murder as they play out in real time. Think "Carrie" meets "Eyes Wide Shut."
WILL I BE ON MY FEET THE WHOLE TIME?
While this experience is designed to allow people to roam on their feet the full time, each room has at least one place to sit as needed. If you have questions about accessibility, or have mobility issues, please contact us directly at email@example.com.
Every room in the experience is wheelchair accessible. There are two rooms with two entrances where one of the entrances has one step. It's an explorative immersive experience so you are free to follow any stories/characters you wish. Some characters may move around faster than others.
If you’re thinking of attending Masque Macabre and have any concerns at all about your ability to fully enjoy the piece (for example, we are happy to provide pre-show tours of the space to wheelchair users,) please feel free to reach out to us. You can call or text Managing Director Leah Barish at 773-644-1380 or email her at firstname.lastname@example.org.
We are pleased to offer patrons with vision loss sighted companions who will be trained to provide audio description at a discounted rate of $10/ticket. Please call Strawdog to purchase your ticket over the phone. This service will be available after October 12.
Please notify Strawdog one week before you plan to attend the performance, and we will arrange for a companion to provide description during the performance. If schedule permits, you may participate in a touch tour before the performance. Strawdog will also provide room and character descriptions to guests prior to the performance.
You can call or text Managing Director Leah Barish at 773-644-1380 or email her at email@example.com.
This experience neither requires nor mandates any audience participation or physical contact between audience members and performers. Audience members may be invited to interact with performers but this is always an invitation and never a requirement. Actors will only move forward with contact or interactive moments if they have enthusiastic consent from the audience member.
WILL I BE WEARING A MASK?
You will be provided with a lightweight, half face masquerade mask and asked to wear it through the duration of the experience. We encourage patrons to wear contacts if possible but people with glasses are welcome to wear the mask on top of their head.
WHAT IS AN N.D.A.?
A non-disclosure agreement (NDA) is a legal agreement we have our patrons sign to prevent sharing details of your experience with the general public.
WHEN SHOULD I ARRIVE?
The doors to the lobby will open no sooner than 30 minutes before the performances is scheduled to begin. If you arrive early, please be prepared to wait outside.
IS THIS A HAUNTED HOUSE?
While inspired by mid-nineteenth century horror stories, Masque Macabre is not a "jump scare" style haunting experience. It is a dark, unraveling theatrical narrative.
Blood, violence, lust, weapons, language, drug use, flashing lights, loud noises, darkness, death, mention of sexual assault, strobe effects, water based haze, confined spaces, eye contact, physical contact.
Seventy five to eighty minutes.
WHAT SHOULD I WEAR OR BRING?
Wear comfortable shoes. Bring your wallet—we've got two bars. Do not bring a purse or a bag—leave it in your car or at home. There will be a coat check but it will not be secure.
CAN I BRING MY KIDS?
Only adults 18+ will be admitted to Masque Macabre.
IS THERE PARKING?
Parking is available in the lot to the West of the theatre building. The parking lot is accessible via the alley, which you can access via Byron or Ravenswood. You cannot access the parking lot from Berenice Ave.
CAN I BUY TICKETS AT THE DOOR?
